Skylar created the BFF Artomat series based on her digital fashion illustrations, which began in 2021. This was part of her return to art after she quit for a couple years. Skylar wanted to show the importance of having a healthy relationship with yourself. Specifically within herself during her struggles with mental health. She wanted True Bff to mean being your own best friend when others have given up on you, while also staying kind and true to yourself. This was true to her when Sky forgot who she was after her struggles with mental health. She was able to regain a connection through her characters, and their various personalities.
